YOUTH JIU-JITSU CURRICULUM—CYCLE 1

AGES 4-15

Week 1-5-9—

Mount

Positional control

1.       knee drive transition to mount(gray)

2.       anchor and base(gray)

3.       low swim/high swim(gray)

4.       take the back(orange)

5.       remount technique (orange)

Week 2-6-10—

Mount

Escapes and defenses

1.       trap and roll (arm hug variation) (gray)

2.       elbow escape (standard variation) (yellow)

3.       elbow escape (with hook removal) (orange)

4.       bench press to butterfly guard(green)

 

Week 3-7-11—

Guard—

Positional control

1.       collar and sleeve gripping(gray)

2.       scissor sweep(gray)

3.       hip bump sweep(orange)

4.       double ankle sweep (vs standing) (orange)

5.       hook sweep (vs standing) (orange)

Week 4-8-12—

Guard—

Passing the guard

1.       guard break to single underhook smash pass(gray)

2.       guard break to double underhook smash pass(yellow)

3.       guard break to knee through inside pass(green)

4.       butterfly guard X-pass(green)

--Warm ups should include bridges, shrimping, ukemi, and around world pins.
